Abstract

We examine how variations in TTS quality influence listeners’ affect and frontal alpha activity. Lower quality synthesis decreases pleasantness ratings and is associated with shifts in frontal alpha power indicative of altered attentional demands. The results provide converging behavioral and neurophysiological evidence that TTS quality modulates emotional experience and cognitive load.
