We investigate how perceived audiovisual quality interacts with contextual and user-related factors to shape viewers’ emotional experience. Using controlled quality degradations and standardized affect self-reports, we show that quality drops reliably reduce positive affect and increase arousal, but the magnitude is moderated by content genre and individual sensitivity. The results highlight the need for QoE models that integrate technical, contextual, and human factors when predicting emotional impact.
