Paper presented at the 5th International Workshop on Perceptual Quality of Systems (PQS 2016), Berlin, Germany

Abstract

This survey reviews UX aspects of user authentication, covering memorability, effort, error tolerance, perceived security, and context of use across passwords, biometrics, and multi-factor methods. We synthesize empirical findings and highlight trade-offs between security and convenience. The paper outlines a research agenda for UX-centered authentication design and evaluation.
