Enabling Sustainable Everyday Mobility: The Role of E-Cargo Bikes in Urban and Rural Contexts

E-cargo bikes are becoming more popular than motorized vehicles as cities grow and people look for greener modes of transportation. This is especially true for anyone who has to move goods or kids. The potential of e-cargo bikes to encourage the use of ecologically friendly modes of transportation in urban and rural areas is examined in this study. Using a qualitative, interview-based methodology, we investigate adoption-related perceptions, barriers, and facilitators among urban users. Participants include caregivers, small business owners, and people who need frequent mobility. The results show that city dwellers enjoy better infrastructure but still have trouble finding places to store their bicycles and negotiating traffic. People who live in rural areas face difficulties because of their isolation and the lack of bike-friendly roads. To provide insights into policy and customized design approaches, this study looks at infrastructure, psychological factors, and local norms.
