Abstract

We analyze how thematic scene design and in-game voice conversations shape engagement and competitiveness in multiplayer VR exergames. Richer environments and lightweight conversational cues increased social presence and persistence, but excessive chatter occasionally hampered coordination. We outline design balances between social facilitation and task focus to sustain enjoyable physical activity.
