Supervision

  • 5 ongoing doctoral projects in the Immersive Reality Lab, each embedded in a funded project. Named topics and completed procedures on the teaching page
  • 4 completed doctoral examinations supervised or reviewed at TU Berlin, including one binational cotutelle with the University of Technology Sydney
  • Where they went afterwards: three of the four are postdoctoral researchers at TU Berlin, one works in industry in Colombia
  • Papers from the lab are presented at their conferences by the doctoral researchers who wrote them. I lead the work, and prepare the presentation with them
  • 35 Master's and 70 Bachelor's theses supervised since 2011

  • 2025–2027Advisory Board, TD-CHAT, the Troubled Desire self-help and chat study, Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, with Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, made possible by Prevention Global and financed by the Oak Foundation. The successor to STOP-CSAM: it evaluates the multilingual self-help platform Troubled Desire and its anonymous chat sessions with trained therapists.
  • 2025–2027Advisory Board, EditA, Evaluation von digitalen Anwendungen zur Sicherstellung der Versorgungs- und Arbeitsqualität in der Pflege (evaluating digital applications for care quality, working conditions and usability in nursing), Institut Arbeit und Technik at Westfälische Hochschule Gelsenkirchen, with the Quality and Usability Lab at TU Berlin and Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, funded by the GKV-Spitzenverband under the model programme of § 8 (3) SGB XI. The project develops and validates a survey instrument with which care providers can measure whether a digital application actually improves care quality, working conditions and usability.
  • 2023–2025Advisory Board, STOP-CSAM, Scalable Technology for Online Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse & Child Abuse Materials, Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, funded by the European Commission. A prevention project addressing the consumption of child sexual abuse material, reaching people who are not in contact with any service and offering them a therapist-led online intervention in four languages. 5,029 people responded to the offer and 180 completed four chat sessions each; among those who stayed, the time spent using the material halved on average and what was consumed became less severe.
